The Scottish Association of Landlords (SAL) alongside our specialist letting agent wing, the Council of Letting Agents (CLA), is proud to be the largest professional body for Scotland's letting industry. We assist members with their letting businesses, represent them when needed, lobby Government on all issues affecting private sector lettings via our work at Holyrood, Westminster and with local government.
Members highly value our services which include unlimited free letting helpline, subscription to Landlord Focus magazine, email updates with all the information you need for letting, landlord and agent training via Landlord Accreditation Scotland, member meetings and events, National Landlord Day annual conference, the Agency Business annual letting agent conference, all letting documents including tenancy agreements and useful factsheets.
Membership is open to all residential private landlords, letting agents and housing advisers/consultants. Members agree to abide by the relevant Code of Practice.
Landlord membership is for landlords/couples/families who let properties they themselves own.
Council of Letting Agents membership is for letting agents who let properties owned by others.
Landlord membership plus RLA* is for landlords/couples/families who require membership of both SAL and the Residential Landlords Association or RLA, our English counterpart. This membership is suitable for people who let in both Scotland and England.
*As the Scottish letting specialists, SAL member services, documents and helpline etc cover Scottish residential letting only. For landlord members who also let in England we offer a reciprocal membership agreement with the Residential Landlords Association.
For letting agents with more than one branch, a Council of Letting Agents membership per branch is required in order to market the company as a CLA agent member. We offer a multiple branch discount at £300 per branch for 2 + branches joining at the same time. Membership benefits including use of the Agent member logo can be used by the member branch only, should only one branch take out membership.
If you need any help to decide which membership you require, please do call or email to discuss your needs.
